SAP GUI 7.20 Error - Logon Balancing error

$
0
0

Hi,

This is my first post to SDN. I have tried to search this issue, but was not able to find a resolution so posting it. Hope this time I get it resolved.

I have installed SAP GUI 720 with patch level 8 and copied the saplogon.ini file given by our company's client. However, I am still not able to login to the system.  It is a group server logon.

The error I get is

Logon Balancing error 88:Cannot connect to message server (rc =9),

If I select the detailed error description it says

Error:hostname <the message server name> unknown

I am using Windows XP Professional Ver 2 SP3 on my end

I have copied the port names in the services file in the etc folder and also ensured that there is an extra line in the end.

I also have my desktop system's hardware and IP in the client's network. (We are in India and our company's client is in US)

Any suggestions, what I am missing?

Note which actions and input led to the error.

For further help in handling the problem, contact your SAP administrator

You can use the ABAP dump analysis transaction ST22 to view and manage

after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File

(Unconverted)".

3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP

program: The source code of the program

   In the editor, choose "Utilities->More

Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".

4. Details about the conditions under which the error occurred or which

Is there a possibility to disable the

Due to the fact, that if a person has the possibility to access the Operating System; he will have the opportunity to access the DB withou entering an aditional password. We want to establish levels of security between OS and DB. What are your recommendations? Is it possible to do it? How? If so, what could be the repercussion in the rest of my SAP servers?

I also want to know what could be the steps to change, the password of my oracle users (system, SYS, SAP<sid>) without affecting my sap business processes

Memory Tuning - SAPPFPAR check

$

I was wondering on how to optimize the use of "SAPPFPAR check" in terms of Memory Tuning. Upon typing the command "sappfpar check pf=<profile>", the shared memory disposition overview is being shown. Are the values shown here present the current values defined in the system?

Furthermore, i was wondering what values are shown below? Do all the values shown below display the currently allocated values in the system or are the values shown below display the required value at the very least? If so, how can i change the value? How do i know what parameter these values are directly corresponding to so that i can check and change the said values if necessary? Especially the values shown in the "worst case" field, how can i check whether the currently allocated values satisfy what are indicated in the SAPPFPAR check?

In addition, i was wondering what does the error imply? Does it straightforwardly imply that there are incorrect values existing in the system, or does it imply that requirements are not met, or etc. I would like to know more about this from the SAP practitioners themselves since experience provide the best knowledge that can be taught since it occurred first hand.

Kindly enlighten me on this topic. Thanks.

BackGround Job's Spool Request is having "Waiting" "Frontend unavailable"

Hello Friends,

I am facing one problem related to Spool Request, which is generated through Scheduled Background Jobs (scheduled by funcional people).

The Background Job is having status "completed" when analyzing it. But, its associated Spool Request is showing "waiting" Status, with "Frontend unavailable" as Status Text.

Here is the brief status of that Spool Request.

28448     1      300 USER1 00:00 LP01 X_65_80      Frontend unavailable

in Detail:

Description          Value
Status:              Frontend unavailable
Last event:
Message:             Request on hold
Date:                01.07.2009
Time:                00:00:27
Job status:          On hold
Error class:         Delayed
Area:                Data transfer
Printout:            Not printed

The Setting of LP01 O/Device is as followed:

Output Device        LP01
Device Type        SWIN SWIN  : Windows printing via SAPlpd
Device Class      Standard Printer

Host Spool Access Method       F F: Printing on Front End Computer
Host printer                     __DEFAULT

Moreover, the SAP User USER1 is allocated LP01 as Output Device with "Output Immediately" & "Delete After Output" checked status.

Some Background Jobs are showing the same status for this LP01.

I have a doubt on allocated O/P Device LP01.

Any Clue for this issue ?
